The Raven’s Flight
Through a forest of towering cedars,
I spread my black wings
and rise above the ferns.
Sunlight slips between the branches,
touching my feathers
as I fly through the shadows.
With every beat of my wings,
the air rushes around me,
loud and alive.
I hear the wind in the treetops.
I feel it beneath my body,
lifting me higher
and carrying me forward.
The trees stand still as I pass,
ancient and watchful,
their branches reaching
toward the open sky.
I am the raven,
dark against the morning light,
flying where the forest opens
and the wild wind calls my name.
