Search Carried Away…

Hello,

Welcome to Carried Away…

Who am I, and why are you here?

That is a great question. I am not sure anyone ever fully knows who they are, but I am here because I believe we are meant to keep exploring.

I am 41. I am a mother to my daughter, Chloe, a wife to Neil, a daughter, and a sister to three brothers and one sister. I work as a financial assistant and I am a licensed life insurance agent.

More than any title, I am a lifelong learner, living somewhere in the middle between who I have been and who I am becoming. This space exists for that in-between place. A place to explore ideas, interests, stories, and quieter truths, without needing to have everything figured out.

Welcome to Carried Away. This space is as much yours as it is mine.

Come jump in the deep end with me, and let’s discover who we were always meant to be.

Why I Created Carried Away…

As the founder of Carried Away, I sought to create a space where creativity knows no bounds and imagination takes flight. This platform was born out of my deeply rooted passion for storytelling and the written word. I believe that everyone has a unique story to tell, and this blog serves as a canvas for both myself and my readers to share, inspire, and be carried away by the power of creative writing. I desire to take grand ideas and break them down into enjoyable and useful posts.

Creative writing is more than just assembling words into sentences; it's a means of self-expression, reflection, and exploration. For me, it's a way to unleash my thoughts, emotions, and dreams onto the page, creating a tapestry of narratives that evoke a myriad of emotions and themes. Every single post, from recipes to tarot, is thoughtfully created to provide an enjoyable post for you to read. As 2024 has just begun, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on how and why I have this blog.  This space where I can share the things that I am curious about, and to come and write a post for you each week, fills my bucket up.  My bucket can get quite empty at times.  I am a full-time mom, full-time worker, full-time student, and full-time human and it can be a challenge.  If you can find the things that replenish you, you should find a way to incorporate them into your life.  That is why I have the Carried Away Blog. Don’t get me wrong, I love all aspects of my life, but they can drain me. My word for 2024 is empowered.

I AM EMPOWERED. Well, I am actively working on being empowered.  Progress, not perfection.  I will keep pushing on with this blog until it meets you! Yes, you. We are meant to connect and be a community of like-minded humans.

Carried Away is a form of catharsis and liberation, allowing me to delve into the depths of my imagination and share the stories that have been yearning to break free.

Through Carried Away , I hope to resonate with you by fostering a community where creativity thrives and diverse voices are celebrated. I aim to inspire others to embark on their creative journeys, whether it be through storytelling, poetry, or any other form of artistic expression.

In this digital sanctuary, I invite you to immerse yourself in the wondrous realm of creative writing, to be carried away by the eloquence of language and the magic of storytelling. It is my earnest wish that each visitor leaves this blog feeling inspired, empowered, and eager to unleash their creativity upon the world.

Join me on this enchanting odyssey, and together, let's be carried away by the enchanting power of creative writing.

Jump Into My Dream…

I can hear a quiet knocking. It mimics the rhythm of my heart. Knock, knock, knock.  Through the stained-glass window frame, I can see the shadow of a figure slowly walking away. As I go to open the door, a gust of wind opens the door with me. I look around and see no one and nothing out of the ordinary. I am about to turn around and go back inside, but at this moment, I see a glistening by my feet. I look down and find a golden silk-covered book. On the front of the book, sewn with ocean blue thread, it reads, ‘Allow Yourself to Be Carried Away.’

As the wind and I turn the pages of the book, we notice the pages are empty. I feel a deep sense of knowing, these pages will be filled with books I explore, dreams that I manifest, and stories of the people that I meet along the way.

I hope to fill these pages with profound, and some less profound words. The more I understand that I will never be perfect, the more content I feel in this skin that I live in. The muddier I get, the more I enjoy the swim.

I place the gifted journal on my front table. It lays next to the rusted metallic ‘&’ symbol that my mother bought me from a flea market many years ago.  I think, ‘&’ now what? I decide to walk down to the beach. I take off my sandals and walk through the warm sand to the old wooden dock. The scent of the saltwater drifts through the air, as the seagulls sing their choir songs. At the end of the dock, I close my eyes and feel the sun shining on my face. The waves crash in my ears.

Come jump in the deep end with me.  We float weightless on our backs. The cool water rushes through us, and the warm sun fuels our curious souls. As we relax and let go, we get carried away...

I open my eyes, and I am floating safely in my bed.

Questions or comments? You have come to the right place.

I also love random facts.

Three random facts for you:

1. Octopuses have three hearts, blue blood, and can regenerate a lost arm.

I did not finish Remarkably Bright Creatures for book club. I adored Marcellus, but I found Cameron difficult. I did, however, enjoy the wine and the conversation. Also, should the plural of octopus be octobpi? I will be thinking about this for a while.

2. Bananas are berries, but strawberries are not.

Botany makes its own rules and refuses to explain them. I respect that. I sometimes feel like a banana.

3. There are more possible games of chess than atoms in the observable universe.

Strategy and the universe, both observable and not, are long standing interests of mine. I am currently on day two of learning chess on Duolingo, and day two hundred and thirty of learning French. Bonjour, je suis une banane.
