A Small Mending

The cuff had come apart
where my thumb kept finding it.
I wore it anyway
until the hole caught
on the kitchen drawer.

This morning I found bright pink thread,
a needle,
the glasses I keep losing.

My stitches wandered.
I pulled one out
and tried again.

Now there is a small pink seam
inside the grey.
You can see it
when I turn my wrist.

I have not shown anyone.
