Mind Vs. Ocean
On the drive to work each day,
I take the longer way.
I drive past the summer ocean as if it were my soul’s purpose.
It floats childhood memories to the surface.
Of sandy beach days where sandcastles melt away against the ocean tide.
We float on our inner tubes, our laughter colliding with seagull songs.
The days are warm and long.
Now the summer has drifted into Fall.
The laughter is not as loud as it was before.
This morning it is storming.
I wonder if the ocean is as beautiful on rainy days?
Today I decided to take the longer way.
Seeking answers,
I ponder the question all the way to work.
Hypothesizing the ocean's look.
I arrive at work,
To realize that I forgot to look at the ocean.
